Whether you’re an adamant soccer fan (excuse me, football fan), recreational player, or just know that soccer is the game where they kick around a black and white ball, you would literally have to live under a rock to avoid the 2010 World Cup. And with universities out for the summer, many students are able to enjoy the “most beautiful game in the world” despite it being played on the other side of the planet.
Like the rest of the world, we here at ChapterTalk have been swept up in World Cup mania. Recently, the ChapterTalk office had a little scuffle over what was bigger, the World Cup or the Summer Olympics, and while a definitive conclusion was never reached, both sides agreed to a truce when the England/USA game came on. Look at that! Soccer really can bring world peace… or at least, peace to the ChapterTalk office.
So here’s a big shout out to all the World Cup fans, viewers and game attendees (you lucky bastards!). If you’re watching the games with your chapter, your parents or even by yourself, we invite you to join in our celebration of the 2010 World Cup: one of the best excuses to visit a pub and order a pint at 11am in the morning. Cheers!
P.S. Forza Italia!
Note: “Ke Nako” is the official slogan of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and means “it’s time” in Tswana (one of the languages of Southern Africa).
