Now that summer vacation is in full swing, we ask you what you’re doing with your free time. Summer school? Working? Traveling around Europe? Whatever your summer days and nights are filled with, we at ChapterTalk think it’s time for some good, old fashioned, web 2.0 fun (the oxymoron is intended). And what better way than with an online game where you could actually win a car?
The game is called “Unlock the tC Road Trip” and is produced by Scion, the maker of the Scion tC. We know what you’re thinking, but no, this is not some gimmicky “send us your email and we’ll enter you along with 5 million other people” marketing scheme. It’s also not a cheap little online game that a five year old could figure out simply by trial and error (yes, we’re thinking of last year’s Volvo catastrophe for the Twilight New Moon movie). Unlock the tC Road Trip Game is an eight week long interactive competition in which players race cross country in, you guessed it, their own virtual Scion tC. Players can customize their tC with vehicle upgrades, go on “side trips” to unlock prizes, and earn “tCoins” by inviting friends to join their crew (Scion has also utilized FaceBook so players can see if their friends are playing). A new game is unlocked every week (eight in total), and players can track their standings on the leader boards.
The ultimate grand prize is (drumroll please) a 2011 Scion tC, a trendy sports coupe with nice lines, a Pioneer audio system, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Simply put, this isn’t your grandma’s four-door Chrysler! Four finalists will compete for the new tC at the end of the game in Los Angeles (August 14th), however, Scion is also giving out daily “instant-win” prizes such as FLip MinoHD camcorders, X-mini Capsule Speakers, and Nintendo DSi with Korg DS-10+ sets. The competition is completely free to enter and doesn’t require any previous knowledge of Scion or the tC, although a history of winning and being generally awesome is recommended (by ChapterTalk, not Scion).
